ScriptRoll Privacy Policy

ScriptRoll is a professional teleprompter app for iPhone, iPad, and Mac. This policy explains exactly what happens to your data. The short version: nothing leaves your Apple devices.

Effective date: April 15, 2026

Applies to: ScriptRoll for iPhone, iPad, and Mac.

The short version

ScriptRoll does not collect, transmit, sell, share, or analyze any personal information. There are no analytics trackers, no advertising SDKs, no third-party services, and no developer-owned servers. Everything you create stays on your devices and syncs privately through your own iCloud account — which only you can access.

What ScriptRoll stores — and where

  • Your scripts, folders, speaker tags, and formatting preferences are stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework.
  • iCloud sync is optional and uses your personal iCloud account through Apple CloudKit. Your scripts sync between your own Apple devices. The developer has no access to this data and no way to read it.
  • Recorded videos are saved to your device's Camera Roll (Photos library) only when you explicitly tap record and then save. The recordings never leave your device through the app.

What ScriptRoll never does

  • No user accounts. No sign-ups. No passwords.
  • No analytics — no Firebase, Mixpanel, Amplitude, Google Analytics, or any equivalent.
  • No advertising identifiers and no ad SDKs.
  • No crash-reporting services that collect personal data.
  • No AI or machine-learning services that send your scripts to the cloud.
  • No developer-owned backend. No REST API you talk to.
  • No sale, rental, or sharing of data with third parties — because no data is collected to begin with.

Permissions ScriptRoll may request

ScriptRoll only asks for permissions that are required for features you use:

  • Camera — used only to show the front-camera preview behind the teleprompter text when you choose to record a take. Video frames are captured by the operating system; the teleprompter text is a separate on-screen overlay and is never composited into the recorded video.
  • Microphone — used only to record audio alongside your video take.
  • Photo Library (Add Only) — used only to save a recorded take to your Camera Roll when you ask it to.
  • Files / Document Picker — used only when you choose to import a script. ScriptRoll uses Apple's system document picker, so any cloud drives you already use (iCloud Drive, Google Drive, OneDrive, Dropbox, etc.) appear through Apple's interface. ScriptRoll never authenticates with those services directly.
  • iCloud — used only to sync your scripts between your own devices through your private iCloud account.

You can revoke any of these permissions at any time in your device's Settings.

Children's privacy

ScriptRoll is not directed at children under 13. Because the app does not collect any personal information at all, it does not knowingly collect information from children or anyone else.

Third parties

ScriptRoll relies on Apple's operating-system frameworks (SwiftData, CloudKit, AVFoundation, PhotoKit) and Apple's App Store for distribution. Apple's handling of your Apple ID, iCloud data, and App Store purchases is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. ScriptRoll itself integrates no other third-party services.

Changes to this policy

If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a new effective date. Because ScriptRoll collects no data, any future changes would only expand privacy — not reduce it.
