Privacy & Terms

The boring page,
made plain.

TL;DR

We don't collect anything.

Your recipes and plans live on your iPhone and in your private iCloud, scoped to your Apple ID. There is no RecipeSweep account because there is no RecipeSweep server. The full version below explains the technical reality.

Privacy Policy

RecipeSweep is built so the question "what data do you collect about me?" has a one-word answer: none. The rest of this section explains how the app actually works so you can verify that for yourself.

What the app stores

RecipeSweep stores the following on your device:

This data is also written to your private CloudKit container, which is scoped to your Apple ID and managed by iCloud on your behalf. Apple controls that storage. RecipeSweep operates no servers and has no access to that container outside of what your device reads and writes locally.

Network calls the app makes

The app makes only two kinds of network calls, and both are user-initiated:

There are no analytics, no crash-reporting SDKs, no advertising identifiers, no fingerprinting libraries. If we ever use Apple's MetricKit for performance diagnostics, it remains on-device and reports nothing to us.

Permissions

RecipeSweep asks for these iOS permissions only when you use the corresponding feature, and you can revoke any of them at any time in Settings → RecipeSweep:

Camera
Used only when you tap the camera button to attach a photo to a recipe. Photos are stored with the recipe; nothing is uploaded.
Photo Library
Used only when you choose a photo from your library to attach to a recipe. Same as above — local-only.
Reminders
Used only when you ask the app to export a grocery list to the Reminders app. RecipeSweep writes to the Reminders list and stops.
iCloud
Used to sync your library across your own devices via your Apple ID. Controlled by iOS. Disabling iCloud Drive disables sync.

Children

RecipeSweep is rated 4+ in the App Store. The app does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone of any age, including children under 13. Because nothing is collected, COPPA compliance is automatic.

Changes to this policy

If we change how the app handles data, we'll update this page and bump the effective date at the top. Material changes will be called out in the app's release notes.

Terms of Use

Purchase

RecipeSweep is sold as a one-time purchase through Apple's App Store. Apple's standard End User License Agreement applies to your install of the app. The terms below add to that, but do not override anything Apple has already promised you under their EULA or applicable consumer law.

Your content is yours

Recipes you enter, photos you attach, plans you build, and pantry items you track are yours. We claim no license to your content, do not have access to it, and will not use it for any purpose. Nothing about how the app is built changes that fact, and that won't change.

Recipe extractor

The recipe extractor reads pages you direct it to. RecipeSweep does not crawl, scrape, or index the web on its own. When you save or share an extracted recipe with someone else, please respect the source site's terms — most cooking sites are fine with personal use; commercial redistribution may not be.

Warranty disclaimer

The app is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do our best to ship a polished product, and we'll fix bugs we learn about, but we can't promise the app will be error-free or uninterrupted.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim arising out of or relating to the app is limited to the amount you paid for it. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including lost meals, missed dinners, or any data loss caused by iCloud sync conflicts that you didn't reconcile in time.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of [STATE PLACEHOLDER], USA, without regard to its conflict of laws principles. Any dispute that can't be resolved over email goes to the courts of competent jurisdiction in that state.
